CONCEPT | “Guardian of Memory” is an authorial photograph by Lucas Belchior that observes Brazil in its most original state: everyday life where spirituality, territory and ancestry walk together. At the center of the image, the caramelo dog — an almost mythical figure of Brazilian streets — inhabits the space with the power of a divine ancestor. In the background, the atabaque — another ancestral figure of Brazilian spaces — announces a territory of collective memory. The photograph is a portal rooted in the memory of Rio de Janeiro, crossing generations and connecting urban Brazil to the African roots that continue pulsing in the country.
